Farwest Exhibitors advised to avoid directory scams

Several exhibitors have reported that they have once again been contacted by representatives of Fairguide and/or Expo-Guide. The Farwest Show and the Oregon Association of Nurseries are not associated with these companies. The OAN does not contract with any outside agency to produce a show directory or exhibitor guide. Exhibitors have found the solicitations misleading. They believed they were signing up for a free listing associated with the show, only to later receive a substantial bill for a business listing on the company's website. If you are exhibiting at the 2012 Farwest Show and grow Acer species or cultivars—from liners to specimens, for the collector to the commercially produced—please plan to showcase one or more of your Acers in the display. 2011 New Varieties Showcase spotlights top new plants and winners at the 2011 Farwest Show

Picking the very best plants displayed in the 2011 New Varieties Showcase at the Farwest Show was a tough task falling to no single group. Show judges handed out the official awards, while show attendees voted separately on the People's Choice awards. As things turned out, however, the two groups agreed more often than not. [Read more]
