KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Adrian Bloom,
Moderator: Brian Jacob, western region president, American Conifer Society
As president of Blooms Nurseries Ltd. near Norfolk in England, Adrian Bloom has personally introduced many American gardeners to the unique varieties of perennials for which he and his father are internationally known. He is a renowned expert on conifers and the author of "Gardening with Conifers," which is dedicated to his passion for the genera.
Bloom holds the Royal Horticultural Society’s coveted Victoria Medal of Honor for service to horticulture. Only 63 people can hold the award at any one time. During Alan Bloom’s lifetime, Alan and Adrian were the only father and son ever to be honored this way at the same time by the society.
For this special presentation, Bloom will discuss the role that perennials and ornamental grasses can play in creating a garden of year–round interest and how they can enhance and compliment trees, shrubs and conifers. Guests will leave with ideas not only for the small garden but containers too. He ends this lecture by showing how we can excite more people about plants and answering the question "What place is there for conifers in the modern garden?"
